Nathalie's Happy Life

In thirty years of professional life she has touched on several fields: calligraphy (for luxury, fashion, publishing and advertising), illustration, digital publishing, engraving, painting, all this while raising 3 children with a husband who is also an artist, and with several very beautiful distant journeys that have nourished them all... today she has the impression that everything is converging and is becoming more refined, the hours she spent in museums looking at "how it's done" are finding their utility. She divides her time between her home studio for painting, her collective studio for engraving, and art shows.

Nathalie's Happy STYLE

Graduated in "Printed Image" from the Arts Déco of Paris, Nathalie works with oil on wood, with a rather classical technique, glazes for transparency. Having practised watercolour a lot, she likes to keep the lightness of the material.

Her favourite subjects are women, nature and soothing landscapes.

Why we LOVE Nathalie

We were immediately captivated by Nathalie's portraits. A strange feeling captures you and takes you gently to distant lands. You can feel the influence of the Nordic countries, of Flemish painting but also of the surrealist movement.

A sweet mix that makes for fantastic portraits in every sense of the word!

The Happy Funky PORTRAIT of Nathalie

♥ Do you remember your first aesthetic shock?
As a child, my father took me to see a play. I remember the set, the orange cloth mountains. I can still see them!

♥ The artist you would like to meet? What would you say to him/her?
No idea! I prefer to keep the myth alive... artists are not always as relatable as their works 😉

♥ What is your favourite colour?
Blue, always has been. Although green is starting to appeal to me more and more... They are soothing colours.

♥ Which museum gives you the greatest emotion? Why or why not?
The Gemäldegalerie in Berlin. So many masterpieces from my favourite period (15/16th century) together under one roof, I could spend whole days there.

♥ Which work of art would you buy without hesitation if you had an unlimited budget?
A work by a Flemish primitive. It's more than a painting, it's like a 'time window' into such an intense period. The feeling I get from them is almost religious.

♥ In which city do you feel happiest? Why do you think so? Share your 3 favourite addresses.
I really like Berlin, where you feel free, surrounded by nature, intellectually stimulated and safe at the same time. You can walk for days, there is so much to discover.

♥ What book keeps you up all night?
The latest: The Book of Dina by Herbjørg Wassmo. 5 volumes that are hard to close...

♥ What are your biggest sources of inspiration?
Nature and the female figure.

♥ What's the funkiest thing you've done in your life?
With my husband also a freelance artist, we raised three great kids. It was quite a funky pace and we enjoyed it!

♥ What is your definition of happiness?
Not asking yourself why you are here!
