Luc's Happy Life

Passionate about architecture, Luc likes to design exceptional spaces, to guide through a story and follow it through to the details. Beyond the profile of an architect, he is a complete artist: he likes to paint, draw, make photographic and filmic content, he likes to stage and bring a theatricality to everything he can exploit. It was during an experience in Hong Kong that he started making illustrations, surrounded by a dedicated and passionate multidisciplinary team.

Luc's Happy STYLE

For these illustrations, the initial technique is Indian ink, he feeds his library of clothes, foliage and objects as he goes along. He assembles all the elements and redraws new details on a graphic tablet.

Why we LOVE Luc

I really like Luc who totally revisits the family tree and mixes styles and periods with an unequalled talent.

His portraits truly celebrate the bonds of the heart both literally and figuratively. Like all the artists in the Happy Funky family, Luc has a real sense of humour and creates portraits that are as serious as they are funny!

The Happy Funky PORTRAIT of Luc

ā™„ Do you remember your first aesthetic shock?
As long as I can remember, I think of the photographer Steven Klein discovered in 2009. It was during this period that my perception of art really evolved, I understood through some photos the sense of fashion, the singular atmosphere in which an artist can immerse us.

ā™„ The artist you would like to meet? What would you say to him/her?
If I had lived in his time, I would certainly tell Jean Cocteau how much I love him!

ā™„ What is your favourite colour?
No idea, I like them all and the combination of some more than others.

ā™„ Which museum gives you the greatest emotion? Why or why not?
I love the MusƩe de la Chasse in Paris, not so much for its contents but for what its interiors exude, I love the warm, subdued spaces, an English feel.

ā™„ Which work of art would you buy without hesitation if you had an unlimited budget?
I'm a big fan of Charles Eames furniture so without hesitation as many armchairs that would fit in my home!

ā™„ In which city do you feel happiest? Why do you think so? Share your 3 favourite addresses.
I lived in 5 cities so 6 months in Hong Kong and I felt at home there, sometimes more than actually at home. I would go to the Iron Fairies for drinks and bands, as I could go to the beaches of Sai Kung 30 minutes away and be at the antipodes of the city environment.

I also feel at home in Italy, where my father comes from, I like all the cities I could visit in this country, they have their charm, all in their own way.

ā™„ What book keeps you up all night?
When I was a work of art by E.E Schmitt, my first landmark book.

ā™„ What are your biggest sources of inspiration?
I feed my inspirations from the people I come into contact with, my family, my friends. And my own story that is written over time, I draw inspiration from my travels and everything that naturally crosses my path.

ā™„ What's the funkiest thing you've done in your life?
Finding myself in a haunted castle in the Scottish countryside on a full moon night on November 1st.

ā™„ What is your definition of happiness?
Sharing moments with family and friends.
