The Happy Life of Margot

Epicurean and sensitive to details, Margot specializes in creating custom illustrations and visual identities that reveal brands, their history and their know-how.

Born in Nantes, she gained experience in various Parisian agencies before deciding to fly on her own. Carried away by the sweet trends of fashion and the small pleasures of the table, the thirst for adventure and sports experiences also animates her: nature trips, water sports and triathlon. These are her daily sources of inspiration.

The Happy STYLE of Margot

She creates “fashion sketch” style illustrations with vibrant colors, delicately sprinkled with patterns and textures.

A fan of “ultra-customization”, she likes her creations to be original, bold, meaningful and aesthetic.

Why we LOVE Margot

How not to succumb to the charms of Margot’s sketches which remind us of Gruau’s pen, famous fashion illustrator from the 30s to the 50s.

We can only admire the accuracy of the line and the sometimes daring but always right mix of colors and prints. Margot has created an easily recognizable identity, the mark of the greats!

The Happy Funky PORTRAIT of Margot

♥ Do you remember your first aesthetic shock?
My aesthetic shocks have always come from traveling abroad, transported into another cultural dimension. The one that comes naturally to me was in Sri Lanka, during a ride on an authentic old train through the beautiful green tea plantation hills near Ella. But also the superb festival of colors offered by their Hindu or Buddhist religions: the temples, the clothes, the flowers, the ceremonies all in gaiety.

♥ The artist you would like to meet? What would you say to him?
Hard to choose, so I’ll name 2: David Hockney for the pep’s in his works and Christian Dior for my fascination with haute-couture. I would ask to be immersed in their studio to discover their history in more detail, their sketches and experiments. And bring me back to my little girl dreams for a moment…

♥ What is your favorite color? what does it inspire you?
Blue, which inspires me the sea, waves, travel, freedom, both depth and lightness.

♥ Which museum gives you the greatest emotion? Why?
The Yves Saint Laurent museum and its Majorelle garden in Marrakech. It’s an abundance of Moroccan colors and exoticism. With that famous Majorelle blue just perfect, which I love to use so much in my illustrations.

♥ What piece of art would you buy without hesitation if you had an unlimited budget?
Chris Burkard’s surf photos

♥ In which city do you feel happiest? Why or why not? Share your 3 favorite addresses.
Annecy, because I am a lover of the sea and the mountains that I can’t decide between. With this magnificent lake in the middle of the heights, I am served. I would pass for the addresses but I recommend the nature activities: beautiful hikes and swimming in summer, snow sports in winter.

♥ What book keeps you up all night?
I really like personal development books, The Four Toltec Agreements by Miguel Ruiz is among my favorites.

♥ What are your greatest sources of inspiration?
Adventure, travel which abounds with new visual inspirations: both through the discovery of landscapes, colorful textiles, patterns according to cultures.

♥ What’s the funkiest thing you’ve done in your life?
A half Ironman (a sequence of 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21.1 km run) that mark great years of training in a great triathlon club in Paris. And my two little boys, Luis & Raphael, who put a lot of craziness and love in my life 🙂

♥ What is your definition of happiness?
Living from a passion job, traveling, loving and eating well!
