♥ Do you remember your first aesthetic shock?
My first "aesthetic shock" was triggered at the age of 11 when I visited an exhibition in London about the artist Frida Kahlo. I came away moved, overwhelmed, seeing both the duality of beauty and suffering mixed together.
♥ The artist you would like to meet? What would you say to her?
If Frida Kahlo were alive I would obviously turn to her to discuss both her art and her rich personal life. Today I would like to meet the French artist Annette Messager. I would ask her where she gets the creativity, emotionality, fragility and paradoxically strength that we find in her work.
What is your favourite colour? What does it inspire?
White, which represents light, purity and at the same time emptiness. Essential for the balance of all other colours.
♥ Which museum gives you the greatest emotion? Why?
The museum of cinema and miniature in Lyon. I am captivated by everything that is in miniature, like the little dolls' houses. All the elements that bring us back to childhood and plunge us into a tiny world parallel to ours.
♥ Which piece of art would you buy without hesitation if you had an unlimited budget?
I would have bought a mobile by Miro. The airy, fragile, playfulness and balance in his works soothe me greatly.
♥ In which city do you feel happiest? Why do you think so? Share your 3 favourite addresses.
I've just arrived in the south of France, and I had a real crush on the city of Montpellier. I love the city's plant garden, so peaceful and wild at the same time. I love the fine sand and endless dunes of the Espiguette beach and the friendly guinguette atmosphere of the Gazette café.
♥ What book keeps you up all night?
Khalil Gibran's The Prophet. My guideline reference on life, a sort of bedside bible.
♥ What are your biggest sources of inspiration?
I draw my inspiration from the world around me, and I love to observe people, their attitudes, expression etc..
♥ What's the funkiest thing you've done in your life?
I shaved my eyebrows with my dad's razor when I was 6 for my school photo because I thought it would look good.
♥ What is your definition of happiness?
Happiness lies in exchanging, sharing and transmitting with those close to you.
